Reggie Banks Born in London, England. Reggie
brought soccer to Southern California in the
1960's. He has come to be known as the "Father
of Soccer" in Simi Valley, for establishing one
of the first youth leagues here. As a young man,
Reggie played soccer at the amateur levels, but
soon found the need to educate players to the
game of soccer here in the southland.
Reggie is a co-founder, and past president, of
the El Camino Real Soccer League; a current
Board member of the Soccer Foundation; CYSA Hall
of Fame; our first Area District Commissioner of
CYSA; and is a three time past president of CYSA.
He was president of the Western Soccer League,
an adult professional soccer league in the
western United States. Sigi Schmidt, of the Los
Angeles
Galaxy, was the coach of the KICKERS
(professional team). Reggie is proud to have
influenced so many young people. He measures his
accomplishments by the success of all his
players becoming well rounded citizens. |
